Some may say that the winner of the St. Thomas Economic Development Award is a fish out of water in a landlocked city where a steelhead may be confused for someone who works on the railroad, but this company has proven that to be far from the truth.  Cole Munro is one of the most respected food businesses in Ontario.  Under the leadership of Geoff and Susan Cole and with the support of the over 50 employees working there, this St. Thomas business has become one of Canada’s largest processors of Rainbow Trout and Steelhead, while maintaining a reputation for the highest level of quality in the industry.

Cole Munro has undergone many changes since it was established in Port Stanley over two decades ago, from the growth of aquaculture into one of the fastest growing markets in the world, to the ever-evolving dietary and culinary trends to changes in the farming and processing of the product itself, but they have not only persevered – they have thrived.

We would like to thank Geoff and Susan Cole and their entire team for all that they do for this community and to wish them all the best as they grow into a new 27,000 square foot facility.  We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this exciting company.
