The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool. It allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model. It is a visual, dynamic, action focused and activity driven tool which is valuable to business owners.
The Business Model Canvas is a one page overview that lays out both what you do (or want to do), and how you go about doing it; enabling structured conversations around management and strategy by laying out the crucial activities and challenges involved with your start-up, or existing business, and how they relate to each other.
In this 2 hour workshop we will walk you through the 9 building blocks of the Business Model Canvas. These 9 categories represent the four major aspects of a business; customers, offer, infrastructure, as well as financial viability.
You will examine and evaluate…
- What value do you deliver to the customer?
- Which one of your customer’s problems are you helping to solve?
- Which customer needs are you satisfying?
- What bundles of products and services are you offering to each Customer Segment?
The business model canvas is the first step in perfecting your business. The 9 boxes of the canvas lets you visualize all the components needed to turn customer needs/problems into a profitable company. The completed Canvas will then provide a sound foundation on which to write your Business Plan. The process of creating a business plan is a beneficial one, as it helps you think more deeply about all of the different aspects of your business. The truth of the matter is that to be taken seriously by investors and banks, or for grant opportunities, a business plan is essential to your success.
Companies that plan grow 30% faster than those that don’t plan. A study found that plenty of businesses can find success without planning, but that businesses with a plan grew faster and were more successful than those that didn’t plan. Article from the Journal of Management Studies
At the end of this interactive, hands-on workshop, you will have completed your own Business Model Canvas.
